ABOUT THE PROJECT
Core Gameplay
The main idea was to create a game about a monster collector. Since the development time was limited to just two days, the concept of collecting monsters worked well, as the same monsters could be used both as enemies and as units the player collects.
The player had a deck of monsters that they could place on the battlefield. After placement, an autobattle would begin, where both the player’s and the enemy’s monsters attacked each other in turns and used their abilities.
To introduce a layer of decision-making, most monsters were designed to enhance each other rather than themselves. This forced the player to carefully choose the order in which to place their monsters.
Originally, the monsters were designed to be stored in jars. While this wasn’t strictly necessary, it looked fun — and if something is fun, it’s worth adding.
Result
As a result, the game received a lot of positive feedback for its cute monsters in jars, became one of the highest-rated games in the jam, and was featured on the front page of games on itch.io in the roguelike category.
